Yesterday, Google announced their contribution to the election season combining their video database with their speech recognition software. This should be an interesting litmus test. Not just for the accountability it provides to the candidates who are daily making multiple speeches before groups of varying political opinion and demographic makeup, but in looking ahead to other instances. Can you imagine uploading your home videos, where someone non-chalantly mentions something, it’s transcribed, and then indexed? Meaning, everytime you put something on YouTube, what’s captured in the soundtrack will be searchable by Google. Think about that.
